All Points West Festival Lineup

The NJ All Points West Festival is coming back for a second year, and what a great lineup. Beastie Boys, Coldplay, MGMT, Black Keys, The National, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ting Tings and lot more.

Two of the interesting bands playing here (at least for me) are Echo and the Bunneymen and My Bloody Valentine. Saw both of these bands many, many years ago and they were great, but after 15+ years are they going to still rock?

The festival is July 31-August 2 at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Tickets are $199 for a 3-Day Pass and $89 for a single day pass. Kids 5 and under get in free.

It sucks that All Points West is sandwiched between the two great Chicago festivals, Lolla' and Pitchfork. It would be great to stay in Chicago for a week and a half to see Pitchfork and Lolla', then head to Jersey for All Points. Oh well, I can't have everything. So here's the plan, see Pitchfork in Chicago, take a week off of rockin', fly to NJ for All Points and then back to Chicago for Lolla'. Brilliant!

Borders giving up on CDs and DVDs

On March 23, an anonymous employee of Borders Books wrote the Consumerist, stating that the chain will divest itself of 75% of CD and DVD inventory over the next couple months. While his (or her) claim is unconfirmed, the Borders stores I’ve passed by have large banners announcing 30%-off sales on their entire CD and DVD stock. To me it looks like they’re anxious to sell off as much of this material as they possibly can, as fast as they can. IMO this puts this “unsubstantiated” claim well beyond the realm of mere speculation.

Where the Wild Things Are

Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are trailer features Arcade Fire's song Wake Up in the new trailer. Too bad it's not a new song by them, but Wake Up does sound great while watching Where the Wild Things Are.

Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O is working on the soundtrack for the movie with with composer Carter Burwell and Deerhunter's Bradford Cox.

Check out the trailer, should be a lot of fun with Spike at the helm, ROOOAARRRR!

Dylan Gives away new Song

Bob Dylan is giving away a Free MP3 today on his website, bobdylan.com. The song is called Beyond Here Lies Nothin' and will be available on his new album Together Through Life which will be released April 27.The free song is only available today, March 30 so get moving people and download the legends new tune!

The song is pretty bluesy and sounds really good on first listen so I am pretty excited to have it.
